For the interests of posterity and flattering my own ego, here's the setting document med capsules av de forskjellige spillerne - inkludert Kojo White, som ikke ble spilt.
Basic premise:
The characters are all young, black Americans, all members of the Black Angels poser car club. It is set in a ‘70s type era that never existed. Their common hangout is “Kurushi’s Bar & Grill”, a Mom & Pop style dinner a mile or so outside the Portland city area proper.
Almost noone knows that the large warehouse style building that’s also on the plot of land that the bar occupies in reality is a full-fledged training centre. The young men are using their martial skills to fight back against an oppressing organization that is only known under the moniker The Man. Welcome to … the Brotherhood! (Also accepting sisters.)
Setting inspired by:
Undercover Brother, Dolemite, Son of Dolemite, Jackie Brown, Coffy.
Respect Mah Authority!
Instant Police is mostly in effect. Police is usually honest, though naïve, bumbling, and to a certain extent just an obstruction. Corrupt cops have a tendency to be connected either directly or indirectly to The Man.
Nero Barnes - John Christian
The original angry, black young man, Nero Barnes has a chip on his shoulder and ain’t afraid of taking it out on anyone that gets in his way. Tending to think with his fists (and feet, and elbows, and knees, and that tire iron that’s oh so handy in the glove compartment), Nero’s first response to a problem is usually to smash it – and if that doesn’t work, get a bigger hammer, or just smash it a second time at any rate.
Nero dresses in black leather (sometimes both jacket and pants), silver chains as belt, cowboy boots, has a big ‘fro, and drives a 1976 Corvette Stingray. Black, of course.
Shawnte Cooper - Tony
Shawnte Cooper, a.k.a. the King of Bling. If it glitters, Shawnte wants it. Fancying himself something of a ladies’ man, Shawnte will usually try to hit on anything of the opposite sex – not necessarily to get lucky (and if his big stories about chicks he’s met is anything to go by, he should be the luckiest man in the world) though that’s a bonus when that happens… sometimes just for practice. Strangely, he seems to usually love ‘em and leave ‘em on an amicable basis, meaning that he has a network of women all over the USA, keeping phone numbers and other essential information in a little, black note book that is never far from his grasp.
His pimp cane is never far from his side, his tiger tophat and green, shiny, faux leather bodysuit are essential parts of his wardrobe, and the big, platform shoes a necessity.
Shawnte drives a 1974 Oldsmobile Cutlass that’s blinged out – mostly for show, but some modifications has also taken place under the hood.
Winton Green - Jøhrn
Winton Green doesn’t like to talk about his experiences in Vietnam, though he still dresses like a soldier, with green fatigues as his signature clothes. Sometimes, he’ll give hints, like, “this is just like Saigon all over again”, though. A big man with a shaved head, sporting a small beard, Winton has piercing eyes and a world-weary expression. His fighting style mimics his general bearing – short, no-nonsense, and to the point. He still keeps some of his Army contacts, though, and can usually get his hands on more or less any military hardware anyone might want.
Winton drives something that looks like a Willy’s Jeep from the Korean War and WWII era – but it sure as hell doesn’t run like a Willy’s Jeep. It flies. For some strange reason, Winton’s ride has English plates, though he won’t say much more than that it was a gift from a friend.
Baron Jones - Thor André
Sometimes known as “Spooky” Jones, Baron Jones keep insisting that he should be known as Baron Jones, though it says Edward Jones on his driver’s licence. For Baron, every day is Halloween – if his clothes are anything to go by. He speaks in a low, eerie voice, and seems to know things that no man should know. He also has the best wacky baccy in Portland – and lots of it – from some unknown source.
Generally dressing in a ratty three-piece suit, worn top hat, and with white death’s head makeup on, Baron Jones’ appearance wouldn’t be complete without all the little bones and skulls festooned on his suit. He generally walks around barefoot. Though he professes that he doesn’t own a car, he’s sometimes been seen in a beat-up, cream colored Volvo PV 1964.
Kojo White - Urørt
The son of a Chinese immigrant man and a black woman, Kojo White is a well-mannered, well-spoken young black man. The heir to the secret (and somewhat ironically named) White Tiger Black Crane Kung Fu system, he has an intense look… and tends to answer questions in similes and other unscrutable, Asian stuff. Kojo’s father was one of the founders of Kurushi’s Bar & Grill, while Kojo’s mother has been an active member of the Brotherhood since its founding in the fifties.
Kojo tends to dress in vaguely Oriental clothes, has close-cropped hair, and drives a fairly obscure 1964 BMW that’s a little tricked out, but not much. The only hint of an ego is his paint job – neon red, with a “71” logo on the side.
The End.
